Speech therapist
I am Veronika Kálló, a middle-aged special education teacher and speech therapist, primarily focusing on speech therapy. I was born in Szeged, and after completing my higher education, I returned to Szeged to live and work. I obtained my diploma at the Bárczi Gusztáv College of Special Education in 1997, in the full-time program, specializing as a "Special Education Teacher specializing in Speech Therapy – Special Education Therapist specializing in Speech Therapy.
This wonderful profession, which aligns with my interests and disposition, has always suited me, continues to suit me today, and will do so in the future. It nourishes and sustains me, and – I hope and believe – will protect me from burnout as well.
I have worked and continue to work with the therapy of speech and language disorders resulting from acquired neurological injuries (such as stroke), the treatment of dysphonia (hoarseness, temporary voice loss), the management of swallowing problems (such as tongue-thrust therapy, which affects articulation and dental development), the speech technical development of actors and young people studying acting, professional speakers, the treatment of resonance disorders (for example, clients affected by cleft palate), the partial management of speech rhythm disorders (such as stuttering and cluttering therapy), the speech initiation of non-verbal or barely speaking young children, and the correction of speech motor disorders (previously commonly referred to as "lisping," "slurring," or "rhoticism").
I have always eagerly taken on, and continue to do so with the same intensity today, the task of alleviating the symptoms of dyslexia and dysgraphia. In the last 5–10 years, my attention has turned toward the broader connections of the movements, structure, and function of the face, oral cavity, teeth, and articulatory system, and I now perform treatments with this perspective in mind, including full-body treatments when necessary.
