Internal medicine is a highly complex and important field that deals with the diseases of internal organs and systems, serving as a fundamental pillar of healthcare.

An internist must be a good 'detective'; thoroughness and a holistic approach are essential for us, as in many cases, understanding the connection between symptoms and establishing an accurate diagnosis are key to improving the patient's health.

One of our main objectives is to find the correct treatment path for our patients as quickly as possible through thorough and swift examinations, which can be life-saving in the current healthcare situation. In addition, our internal medicine specialist places great emphasis on disease prevention, care, and rehabilitation, ensuring long-term health preservation.

In the following cases, it is advisable to consult an internist:

  • Practically for any unclear health complaint, if your problems are not clear or are difficult to identify, such as persistent fatigue, pain of unknown origin, or general discomfort, it is advisable to consult an internist first
  • In the case of general symptoms: changes in body weight, fatigue, pain, discomfort, recurring fever
  • In relation to preoperative examinations. A thorough assessment of the patient's condition is essential before surgical interventions
  • General health assessment for disease prevention purposes
  • In the case of questions regarding blood results or other test results, if you have questions about laboratory results, ultrasound, or X-ray findings, it is also advisable to consult an internist

The Procedure of Internal Medicine Examination

The first and one of the most important elements of the examination is the exploratory conversation, which is referred to in medical terminology as taking the medical history.

Your doctor will ask you about your complaints, symptoms, medical history, family diseases, medications you are taking, and any possible allergies.

Lifestyle factors are important, so the conversation will also cover your way of life, habits affecting your health, use of any substances, physical activity, occupation, and working conditions. It is important that you feel free to share everything you consider relevant; we won’t judge you based on information you might have read online! :)

If you have any examination results (laboratory tests, ultrasound, X-rays, other imaging, blood pressure logs, blood sugar logs, etc.), please bring them with you!

Next, a general physical and instrumental examination will follow (blood pressure, blood sugar, EKG, body temperature, saturation), based on which our specialist will decide what additional diagnostic steps or examinations are necessary.

Based on the initial examinations, our internist will decide what additional tests are necessary, such as laboratory tests, imaging procedures, or further specialist consultations.

It is important to bring all available test results, logs, and other relevant documents to the examination so that our internist can gain a complete picture of your health status.
