What Is Autogenic Training? – Relaxation and Self-Awareness.

Autogenic training is a scientifically grounded relaxation method that, when practiced regularly, has a proven stress-reducing effect. While stress itself is unlikely to diminish in our lives, the body’s resilience to stress can be developed and strengthened. The word autogenic refers to achieving positive physiological changes through the use of our own inner resources. The term training points to the gradual recalibration of the nervous system that occurs through consistent practice. Beyond this, autogenic training is a process of self-awareness in which attention turns inward. Participants gradually learn to perceive, interpret, and gently regulate their own physical and emotional processes. Regular practice not only brings a sense of calm, but also provides deeper insight into how we respond to stress, which inner patterns influence our reactions, and how we can create greater balance in everyday life in a more conscious and sustainable way.

How Does It Work? – Training the Nervous System

This response becomes associated with a specific posture and set of verbal formulas, and over time it is triggered automatically by them. There is no need to believe in the method; the only essential factor for success is regular, long-term practice.

How Can It Help?

Autogenic training reduces anxiety, strengthens resilience to stress, and improves sleep quality. It supports concentration and enhances inner stability. Overall, it can bring relief in a wide range of stress-related complaints, such as headaches, sleep disturbances, digestive issues, or constipation. It also plays an important role in the prevention of many stress-related and lifestyle-associated conditions, including high blood pressure, heart rhythm disturbances, anxiety disorders, and certain forms of addiction.

How Can It Be Learned?

The method is learned under the guidance of a qualified professional, either in an individual or group setting. The learning process consists of 15 structured sessions built on one another, held on a weekly basis. The exercises gradually deepen over time, which makes regular home practice essential for progress. Ideally, this means practicing relaxation at home twice a day for about 10 minutes each time.

  • Group Format: 4–6 participants 15-week program · 1 × 90–120-minute session per week Fee: 15 × HUF 8,000 per person

The course fee can be paid in one or two instalments. Participants who choose to pay the full amount in a single instalment receive a 10% discount.

Participation in the program requires commitment. Learning the method begins with a preliminary interview to determine whether autogenic training is currently appropriate for the applicant. During the second session, participants are introduced to the method and the framework of the training, and the most important personal goals are defined. Commitment to the full process takes place after these initial sessions. In the case of group training, this means that from the third session onward the group becomes closed, and no new members may join. If someone decides not to continue after the second session, payment is required only for the first two sessions.
