Internal medicine specialist
For me, the medical profession is not just a job, but a lifelong commitment, where the health and well-being of my patients are my primary goals.
I am Dr. Bettina Tóth, born in 1991 in Szeged, where my journey towards the medical profession began. I graduated from the Szeged University Practice High School in 2010 and completed my studies at the University of Szeged Faculty of Medicine in 2016. Since then, I have been working at the Internal Medicine Clinic.
I have a particular interest in diabetes, which is why I joined the Diabetes Working Group, where I conduct my research under the guidance of Professor Tamás Várkonyi. My work focuses on diabetic neuropathy and its complications, with special attention to cardiological, nephrological, and ophthalmological aspects. Additionally, the long-term follow-up of my young type 1 diabetic patients is close to my heart, as I believe it is important to monitor not only their current condition but also their future prospects.
Since 2018, I have been an active member of the Hungarian Diabetes Society, and I have given presentations and showcased posters at numerous congresses, for which I have received support from the MDT several times. Additionally, since 2017, I have been working at the University of Szeged Emergency Medical Self-Providing Department, where I continue to expand my professional experience.
In the fall of 2021, I successfully passed my specialization in internal medicine, and in 2023, I began my training in cardiology, which is particularly close to my heart. My main areas of interest include transthoracic echocardiography and a holistic "cardiabetology" approach, in which I investigate the relationship between the heart and diabetes.
